Customer Background
Alliance Manufacturing developed a customized industrial air filter cleaning machine for a leading manufacturer of high-performance air filters and intake systems. The system was designed to automate the washing and drying of reusable panel and multi-bank filters while meeting the customer’s cleanliness, dryness, and production requirements.
Challenge:
Cleaning Reusable Industrial Air Filters
Reusable panel and multi-bank filters can present unique cleaning challenges because dust and airborne soils may accumulate across multiple surfaces and within the filter geometry.
The customer needed an air filter washing system that could provide consistent cleaning while accommodating the size and construction of the filters. Drying was equally important, as the application required filters to be 100% dry following the cleaning process.
With a production requirement of approximately 200–250 filters per eight-hour day, the customer also needed a solution capable of supporting continuous processing rather than relying on labor-intensive manual cleaning.

Solution
Automated Industrial Air Filter Washer
Following testing at Alliance and discussions with the customer, a customized system was developed around an Aquamaster CB-4032F Conveyor Belt Parts Washer.
The conveyor design allows filters to move continuously through a controlled cleaning process. For this application, the industrial air filter washer incorporates:
- Dual wash stages
- Rust-inhibiting treatment
- Heated blowoff
- Continuous conveyor operation
Combining these processes into one system provides consistent washing and drying while reducing the manual handling associated with cleaning individual filters.
Cleaning and Drying Process
Filters are loaded onto the conveyor and transported through the washer at a controlled rate. The dual-wash process removes dust and miscellaneous airborne soils from the reusable filters.
A rust-inhibiting stage is incorporated into the cleaning sequence where required by the application. After washing, heated blowoff removes remaining moisture to achieve the customer’s 100% dryness requirement.
Integrating washing and drying into the same air filter cleaning equipment eliminates the need for a separate drying operation and helps maintain a consistent production flow.
Supporting Higher-Volume Filter Cleaning
Production volume is an important consideration when selecting a reusable air filter cleaning machine. For this application, the conveyor system was designed to process approximately 200–250 filters during an eight-hour production day.
Continuous conveyor operation allows filters to move through the established cleaning sequence one after another, supporting repeatable results while reducing repetitive manual handling.
The appropriate filter washer configuration will depend on factors such as filter dimensions, geometry, materials, contamination, cleanliness requirements, dryness requirements, and desired throughput.
Application Result
The customized Aquamaster conveyor system provided the customer with an automated air filter cleaning process combining washing, rust inhibition, conveying, and heated blowoff.
By engineering the system around the customer’s specific filters, contamination, production rate, and dryness requirements, Alliance provided an integrated solution for cleaning reusable industrial air filters.
