Customer Background

The customer is a manufacturer of machined, fabricated, and die-cast parts for a wide variety of industries. They have produced parts for the automotive, automation systems such as robots and conveyors, alternative energy and electricity production, defense/military vehicles and ships, large machining, and many other industries that require production of specific parts.

Challenge

The customer needed a parts washer for cleaning a die-cast oil pan. The part had to be 100% dry upon exiting the washer and had to be around 100-120 degrees Fahrenheit. Customer needed Alliance to determine what temperature would be optimum for maximum dryness.

Solution

Alliance provided an Aquamaster CC-1800E indexing parts cleaning system with wash, rinse, and blowoff modules. It is equipped for automated part loading and unloading. Part fixtures with non-metallic contact points convey parts through the machine via dual chains. Conveyor speed can be adjusted using the servo motor program in the control cabinet. Sensors at the load and unload position start and stop the machine as the parts reach these points. A pneumatic wash manifold aids in cleaning blind holes and critical areas of the part. Compressed air nozzles discharge moisture from holes during the intermediate blowoff stage. High-velocity air knives, compressed air, and a pneumatic blowoff manifold are used in the final ambient blowoff module. Also included is an exhaust fan system with piping that returns condensation back into the machine.
