The company sought a custom-built industrial machine to clean all residues and contaminants on the injection-molded graphite components, perform a production rate of seven thousand parts per hour, and be able to integrate the cleaning system with their existing lapping machines. The customer used the parts for high-precision applications, roughly 1.5 inches in diameter and 0.25 inches tall.

The Process

Alliance’s objective was to thoughtfully overcome these obstacles when building a machine that can clean sensitive materials without damaging or breaking the parts. The machine must thoroughly remove residues, continuously operate at a high production rate, and consistently clean and dry the injection molded graphite parts at such high volumes.

The Solution

After testing at Alliance, they confirmed which industrial parts washing system was better suited for the application: a conveyorized rotary drum cleaning system called the “CD-1800E”, which will be best suited for the application.

The CD-1800E Conveyorized Rotary Drum featured:

  • A variable-speed rotary drum
  • Heated wash
  • Heated rinse
  • Final rinse
  • Heated blow-off for completely dry

The custom-built industrial parts washer machine was dialed in at approximately 1.79 RPM to allow high-volume throughput while maintaining consistent cleaning performance continuously.

 

The Outcome

The CD-1800E rotary drum system gives customers a reliable, high-speed cleaning solution that fits seamlessly into their injection molded parts production line. It removes lapping compounds, ensures parts are thoroughly dry, and keeps pace with their demanding throughput.
