Customer Background
Customer is a precision machining company, tier one and tier two automotive supplier, as well as serving the aerospace, medical, energy and commercial industries. This particular customer already has three (3) of Alliance’s Aquamaster CB-1400E parts washers but needed to expand their capacity even further.
Challenge
The customer was seeking a cleaning process for e-coated, cast iron steering knuckles. Due to the cleanliness specifications of this application, RO (reverse osmosis) water was required. Our customer was concerned as to how or if this would affect the overall cleaning system.
Solution
Alliance engineered a three-stage steering knuckle cleaning system that included wash, rinse, and heated blowoff process zones. With the use of RO water, which can attack non-corrosion resistant materials, Alliance recommended using stainless steel piping with stainless steel pumps. This cleaning system also has corrosion-resistant interior components. The wash and rinse modules include stainless steel piping and clip-on adjustable nozzles. The heated blowoff module is designed to evaporate residual moisture from clean parts. Heated air is directed through stainless steel air plenums located above and below the conveyor. Optional accessories in this design include an exhaust fan system, solution heat auto-timer, oil skimmer, product sensor, and external filtration.
