A leading global manufacturer of pistons for both gasoline and diesel engines for use in the automotive, agricultural, industrial, recreational, marine, and heavy equipment industries. The company is based out of Wisconsin, and is a joint venture of two companies in Germany and Japan. U.S. plants are located in Wisconsin and Indiana. There are also plants located in Germany, Japan, Mexico, Brazil, France, China, India, and the Czech Republic. Pistons are made from various aluminum alloys, which are melted in the company’s foundry. The company houses the entire machining and finishing operations for their products.
Our customer needed an automotive tray washing system for the cleaning of various sized plastic trays to be used during the production of automotive components. The trays were contaminated with soluble coolant, light oils, and dirt, and needed to be visually clean and as dry as possible upon exiting the machine. The production rate was to be between 19,966 and 23,191 meters of plastic trays per month.
After reviewing all of the criteria, Alliance engineered an Aquamaster CB-1200D automotive tray parts washing system with wash, ambient blowoff, and heated blowoff zones. Adjustable-width product side guides running the length of the tray cleaning machine were incorporated to accommodate the various sizes of plastic trays. The side guides are adjustable from 2” to 7” wide with a 30” high product opening. The wash zone consists of a wash tank capacity of 200 gallons with a 5’ spray zone. Quick release spray nozzles are positioned along both sides of the conveyor for thorough and consistent cleaning. There is one air knife per side in each the ambient blowoff module and heated blowoff modules. Optional accessories selected include an exhaust fan system, micro filtration with contamination sensor, chemical injection system, solution heat auto-timer, belt-type oil skimmer, and a product sensor at the load end. Full-Access removable canopy segments offer easy access to the machine interior. A customer-specified paint scheme was used. Overall dimensions are 23’4” long x 6’0” wide x 5’9” high.
