Customer Background

Customer is a producer of alloy components for use in many industries. They specialized in research and development, production, and testing. Many of their products are used in heavy-duty, high-temperature, and high-performance applications. Their patented alloys replace traditional copper, cobalt, and nickel-based alloys.

Challenge

Customer was seeking an automated process to clean small parts. In most cases, the parts will be very small and placed inside baskets that can then be placed on a conveyor. In other cases, parts will be placed directly on the conveyor. The basket sizes are approximately 20-3/8” long x 13-1/4” wide x 6-1/4” high.

Solution

Alliance provided an Aquamaster CB-1600E small part cleaning system with a 160 gallon wash tank, 125 gallon rinse tank, and heated blowoff modules. A smaller ½” x ½” mesh stainless steel belt was chosen because parts are generally of smaller size. Conveyor speed is adjustable for varying production rates. A hot air dryer module evaporates residual moisture from parts. Air is blown from both above and below the conveyor. An exhaust fan with condensate return, and belt-type oil skimmer are included as options. A photo-eye product sensor is located at the load end to turn on the pumps and blower in sequence as parts are loaded. A second photo-eye sensor at the unload end detects if the product/baskets stays longer than the designated adjustable length of time and will shut off the conveyor to prevent backup. This small part cleaning system has overall dimensions of approximately 20’8” long x 5’7” wide x 4’9” high (6’0” to top of control cabinet).
