A leading global manufacturer of pistons for gasoline and diesel engines used in the automotive, truck, and heavy equipment industries.


The customer requested a conveyorized cleaning system to process machined aluminum pistons to be supplied to a major North American automotive manufacturer. To achieve the customer’s rigid cleaning and drying expectations, the machine was required to invert the pistons upon entry at a rate of 360 pieces per hour. In addition, the machine needed to fit within a specified manufacturing cell layout, and the use of a special alloy in the construction of the unit was mandated.

Alliance provided an Aquamaster CB-600E conveyorized parts cleaning system with wash, rinse, and heated blowoff modules. A product inverter was integrated into the special 90-degree load conveyor, and custom product guides were employed to orient the product to optimize cleaning, rinsing, drainage, and drying. The exit conveyor was equipped with a sensor to automatically stop the conveyor in the event that parts accumulate beyond a specified volume.
